JAMMU, June 21: A meeting of Bharat Nagar Enclave, Bantalab Welfare Committee was held under the chairmanship of M.K. Pandita, its president, in which various issues concerning the people of the area were discussed.
The meeting expressed serious concern about the irregular supply of drinking water to the households of the area despite the matter having been brought to the notice of higher authorities including Rajiv Bhatnagar, Advisor to Lt. Governor and Chief Engineer Jal Shakti Department, time and again. The meeting made an appeal to Lt. Governor, Manoj Sinha to look into the matter personally by ordering an enquiry into the non-functioning of the 500 ft deep tube well which was constructed by ERA near the overhand tank in Bharat Nagar Enclave and after functioning for a short period of time it became non-functional due to the reasons not known to the public.
Lt. Governor was also urged to direct the concerned authorities to ensure the regular water supply to the area as hard earned money of the residents of the area is being spent on purchase of water tankers from private operators. The Committee, while highlighting its problems expressed concern over the dilapidated condition of roads and problems being faced by people due to non-installing of street lights.
