Concern over grabbing of cremation ground land in Chowgam

JAMMU, Apr 8: Mata Chandi Bhakti Sangathan, Chowgam, Qazigund Kashmir in its meeting here, today has expressed grave concern over the encroachment of over 13 kanals of land belonging to cremation ground in village Chowgam by some unscrupulous elements.
Addressing the meeting, Sanjay Chowgami one of the senior representatives of the Sangathan has urged the district administration Kulgam to take immediate steps in restoration of the land belonging to Kashmiri Hindus. He said the trees worth lakhs of rupees were fell by these anti social elements which belonged to cremation ground before grabbing the land.
The meeting said the act has hurt the religious sentiments of the community also and in case the authorities fail to take action against the land grabbers and anti social elements the entire community will be forced to come to streets. It said under a well planned design the land of Hindu shrines is being grabbed in Kashmir and this can’t be tolerated any more now.
The meeting said that since 2016 the encroacher has started grabbing the land by and by and despite Sangathan’s repeated pleas to authorities concerned they failed to act and restore the land and now he has encroached over 13 Kanals of land belonging to Cremation Ground.
The meeting in an appeal to Lt Governor sought his immediate intervention in the matter and demanded that the encroacher be brought to book.
