Confederation of SC/ST/OBC to gherao Parliament today

JAMMU, Nov 25: All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organizations will gherao the Parliament at New Delhi tomorrow, in support of their long pending demands.
This was disclosed by State president of the confedertation, R K Kalsotra, while addressing a mammoth gathering of SC/ ST/ OBC members, before leaving for Delhi.
He said that tomorrow a national level rally will be held at Ram Lila Maidan in which SC/ ST/ OBC members will participate and later march towards Parliament.
Kalsotra added that saving reservation is the most important agenda that the State unit will project at the national level, adding that the State unit will strive to propose solution for basic issues pertaining to the State SC/ST/OBCs.
He added that, major issues to be taken up during the national rally are reservation in recruitment under Rehbar-e-Taleem and Zirat, adhoc/temporary appointments/ Anganwari workers/ SPO’s/ NRHM and other State/Central schemes funded by the Government, implementation of all the safeguards provided in the State reservation rules for implementation of the State Reservation Act, reservation in promotion in all departments, stopping dilution of ST status and for political reservation for the STs in the State, extension of jurisdiction of the National Commissions for SCs and STs to the State of J&K, implementation of Mandal Commission report in toto in J&K as against 2 percent as provided at present.
Various other Central issues including enactment of Reservation Act, reservation in private sector and promotion and economic empowerment of SC/ST/OBCs, stopping of manual scavenging and improving the plight of sweepers, stopping caste based atrocities will also be taken up, he informed.
