Conference of CMs, CJs to be held on Apr 7 in New Delhi

NEW DELHI : A joint conference of the Chief Ministers of all states and Chief Justices of all the High Courts in the country shall be held in New Delhi on April 7 to discuss the ways and means to streamline the justice delivery system in the country.

The conference shall be presided over by Chief Justice Altamas Kabir.

The two-day conference of all High Court Chief Justices  started today in New Delhi and Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) organised a function in the Supreme Court lawns this evening to welcome the Chief Justices of all High Courts in the country.

The Conference will continue tomorrow.

The conference today discussed 10 important issues concerning the judiciary in the country.

The judiciary and the Union Law ministry have decided to recruit 12,000 judicial officers for subordinate courts in the country during the next five years.

The Government also plans to fill up over 400 vacancies of judges lying vacant in various High Courts.

The conference is being attended by the Chief Justices of all High Courts and Supreme Court Judges under the chairmanship of CJI Altamas Kabir. (AGENCIES)
