SRINAGAR, Jan 9: Stating that the failures to ensure snow clearance in interiors and upper reaches have added more problems to people in snowbound Kashmir, the J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) lashed out at the Government for not being prepared to deal with the snowfall.
“The electricity and various roads have reported been restored, but there was a need to do more on this count. Unfortunately, it was observed that seriousness at higher level in the administration was missing after the heavy snowfall”, JKPCC president G A Mir said.
Mir has said that Congress party feels highly concerned about the hardships confronting people on account of snow clearance, which has not been done with seriousness, resulting in there is chaos and confusion in villages and towns in entire Kashmir.
Mir said numerous number of areas in Anantnag, Kulgam, Shopian, Pulwama besides South and Central Kashmir were reportedly disconnected with tehsil and district headquarters, which was a matter of serious concern, Mir added and emphasized the Government to ensure 100% road clearance and restoration of electricity in entire Kashmir and elsewhere in snowbound areas in J&K.
Congress demands that apart from making tall claims with regard to snow clearance, etc, Government should supervise the work being undertaken on the ground to ensure that there was no negligence on the ground, G.A. Mir said.
“I was surprised to observe that the Government seemed not prepared to deal with the situation after the heavy snowfall”, JKPCC president said and urged the Government to gear up all the field agencies in order to ensure 100% road clearance and restoration of electricity and other facilities to people in Kashmir.
Mir also laid emphasizes over ensuring timely treatment to critical and other patients, besides pregnant women, who need to be taken care well on time, besides the movement of patients from their residential areas to hospitals should be made hassle free to avoid losses.
