Cong activists, others pay tributes to Indira Gandhi

JAMMU, Oct 31: Rich tributes were paid to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her 30th death anniversary by the Congress activists and others in various functions organised across the region today.
The main function in this connection was organised at PCC headquarters Shahidi Chowk here which was presided over by Th Hari Singh, State vice president. It was attended by senior leaders of PCC, DCC, Mahila Congress, PYC, Seva Dal besides Block and Ward Committees  in large number.
While paying tributes to Late Indira Gandhi, Th Hari Singh said that the martyrdom day of Indira Gandhi for the cause of nation’s unity and integrity will be remembered for generations to come. Her glorious achievements like the historic victory in 1971 war and liberation of Bangladesh, Green Revolution, Twenty point Programme, Nationalisation of Banks, Pokharan blast and Garibi Hatao Programme will always remind us of her great contribution in the building of modern India.
Former Minister and senior Congress leader Mula Ram, Ex-MP Dharam Pal Sharma, Vinod Sharma, Indu Pawar-MLA, C L Bhat, Maheshwar Singh Adv, K L Gupta, S R Sudhir, Hari Singh Chib, Anil Chopra, Lalita Sharma, Pawan Raina, Shashi Sharma, Pt Jagan Nath, Raj Bakshi and others also paid their tributes to the late Gandhi.
NSUI Unit Kishtwar activists in a function held at the residence of Congress candidate from Kishtwar Neik Ram Manhas paid rich tributes to Late Indira Gandhi. The function was held under the chairmanship of Parkash Singh Dadwal, Kishtwar unit president. Dadwal  and Manhas while speaking on the occasion recalled contribution of  late Indira Gandhi for the nation and the party.
Kishtwar unit of Congress organised yet another function under the leadership of Randeep Bhandari and paid tributes to  former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The participants also remembered Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and paid him floral tributes on his birth anniversary today.
Meanwhile,  NPP activists observed the martyrdom day of Late Indira Gandhi in the national capital today  and paid tributes to her. Chief patron of the party Prof Bhim Singh described late Gandhi as among the tallest leaders of the world. Mr Singh said Late Gandhi was among the greatest leaders with vision, statesmanship, courage, wisdom combined with nationalism and secular ethos.
