UDHAMPUR, Mar 2: Congress activists led by party leader, Sumeet Magotra held a protest demonstration against Union Government at Salathia Chowk, Udhampur in connection with hike in prices of LPG domestic and commercial gas cylinders.
Demonstrators blocked Dhar Road for some time and raised slogans against BJP led Central Government. The Police rushed to spot and cleared the busy road for traffic. The traffic remained disrupted on the road for about an hour.
While addressing the gathering Magotra expressed that economic policies of Modi government have totally collapsed, because prices of essential commodities are increasing day by day and government is imposing taxes on common man every day resulting majority bread earners unable to provide food to the family comfortably.
He recalled that during Congress led UPA Government LPG domestic cylinder was delivered at the rate of Rs 450 to the public in Jammu region and now it is at the rate of 1200. Magotra further said that in the present turmoil common man is frustrated due to price hike of essential commodities and government is not bothering for the public grievances.
Congress leader warned the Union Government to stop dictatorial attitude and try to provide some relief to the people otherwise, Congress will launch massive protest from village to district level.
Senior party functionaries Rajinder Singh Jamwal, Jeevan Sharma, Arvind Khajuria, Gurdev Singh, Vikas Khajuria, Sham Bansal and Shamim Akhtar also accompanied.
