JAMMU, Dec 17: Making a scathing attack on the Congress, Union Minister for Water Resources, Uma Bharti today said the party has betrayed the Jammu people by making false promises with them over the years and it was also responsible for the present mess in the State.
Addressing a Party rally in Gandhi Nagar Assembly Constituency in support of BJP candidate, Kavinder Gupta she said the Congress has belied the hopes of Jammu people by not fulfilling the promises made by it in elections.
The “Congress has used shoulders of Jammu people to rule the State and enjoy power but never thought about the interests of the people nor raised its voice in the Government so that the region gets its due share’’ she said, adding the growing discrimination with the Jammu region was the cause of Congress failure which got majority of seats from this region to fight for the rights of the people of this region.
In view of the anti people policies of Congress, she said the Jammu people should not give any more opportunities to the Party. Referring to the BJP’s victory in Lok Sabha polls, she said, “people have done a great job as they have thrown out Congress not only from the governance but also from opposition.
“Expressing her satisfaction over the high turnout in last four phases of elections, she said that this high percentage has definitely gone in favour of BJP and party has no doubt in establishing Mission 44+.
“Democracy has the power that even the voice of poor people is being heard, she said. The polling that has taken place in the State so far, whether in Ladakh region or in Kashmir valley, has broken all the records. The record of last 40 years has been broken this time,” she added.
She appealed the people of the region to break all the previous records of polling and ensure majority for BJP in Assembly. Prime Minister Modi’s slogan ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ has touched the voters in the State who are fed up with the National Conference-Congress government, which has delivered nothing except corruption and under development, she added.
She said the Mission Kashmir is not just a slogan but BJP is soon going to turn it into a reality.
Bharti said nobody thought BJP will win over 272 seats in Lok Sabha. “We will once again prove everyone wrong. BJP has already shown what it is capable of and it will surely achieve Mission 44+ in the State, she added.
Earlier she held a poll meeting at Basholi and appealed people to vote for BJP.
