JAMMU, Feb 14: JKPCC working president Raman Bhalla today said that his party will always stand for the rights of people of Jammu and Kashmir. He said the development, dignity and peace in J&K top priorities of Congress.
Bhalla said that both Jammu and Kashmir are equal in every respect and Congress will also fight for the rights of the people of Jammu. He assured the people of J&K that his party will always fight for the restoration of statehood to J&K. Expressing disappointment over the statehood issue, he stressed upon the need for restoring a popular government in J&K as soon as possible.
He said any law which do not safeguard the interests and rights of people of J&K would be unacceptable to Congress. “Better would have been such laws of urgent nature should have been left to or dealt with in consultation with the duly elected government in Jammu and Kashmir,” he remarked.
Urging people to vote for Congress in the upcoming elections, Bhalla said, “You have witnessed how BJP and their leaders have deceived you with false promises and empty slogans over the last ten years. But Congress has a straightforward and transparent agenda. We do not make pretentious statements but instead commit to working towards achieving peace, prosperity, and development in Jammu and Kashmir. Give us a fair chance to serve you. I, again promise that Congress will not let you down,” he added.
He said his party is committed to ensuring a shining future for the people of Jammu and Kashmir and its people. He vowed that if the Congress receives the public mandate through the democratic process, it will ensure the social, political, and economic empowerment of the J&K people and protect their constitutional rights.
“I see a wave of change in J&K. People want to give a chance to Congress party because they feel misled by BJP in Jammu and Kashmir. The people of J&K have developed a feeling of disconnection with the BJP after 2014 Assembly elections in which the Jammu voted the BJP to power. However, the BJP failed to fulfill the promises,” he said.
Several people joined Cong on the occasion. Senior leaders Satish Sharma, Sanjeev Katal, Kamal Choudhary, Baldev Singh, Balwinder Singh Rinku, Shamsher Chand and others were also present.
