Cong appeals Govt to ensure testing facilities, essential items

JAMMU, Mar 22: Jammu Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee has urged the Central Government and UT Administration to ensure necessary testing facilities for the Coronavirus disease besides placing other additional medical facilities required for it before it is too late to deal with pandemic which has engulfed the entire world.
Welcoming the decision of lockdown in Jammu and Kashmir in view of the gravity of the situation, JKPCC has said the authorities should ensure availability of all essential commodities apart from medicines in all localities along with price monitoring.
JKPCC Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma said that there were only few chemist shops, which were open today in few areas causing great hardships to the common people. There were no masks and hand sanitizer with these shops, he added.
He further said that in the absence of local testing facilities, it is still not known the number of exact suspected cases. Though he lauded the efforts of medical authorities and all those engaged in the service of people in this difficult time, he also asked the authorities to ensure necessary equipments for their own safety against the disease.
Sharma said that the initial response was slightly late in view of our experience from other countries, however, there is a strong resolve in the people to defeat the disease as witnessed today. But there is no scope for any complacency and authorities have to take all necessary measures against the defaulters putting the lives of others in community to danger, he added.
The Party also urged the Government to work out to ensure financial support to daily earners in the private sector to sustain during the crucial period and added that the students from other districts and other parts should also be taken care of.
