BARAMULLA, Feb 17: Blaming Central Govt for punishing people under the garb of unprecedented price hike on petrol, diesel and other essential commodities, besides taking many anti- people decisions, Congress today expressed anguish over the hardships confronting people due to the insensitive approach of the BJP Govt.
The party also described the property tax as unfortunate and a move to weaken people economically.
Addressing day long political convention of prominent Party workers in Baramulla today, JKPCC -resident GA Mir has said that people are facing great economic crises, knowing that every sector of J&K especially trade, tourism and small businessmen have suffered huge losses due to the continuous curfew after August 5, 2019, besides the COVID-19 crises, Modi Govt is busy in bringing many anti people laws, which is reflective of its insensitivity about the wellbeing of people.
JKPCC vice president Haji Abdul Rashid Dar, Ex- MLA Gulzar Ahmad Wani, DCC president Fayaz Ahmad Mir, Shahjehan Dar DDC Member, Abdul Rashid Dar (Sangrama) Altaf Malik, Bharat Kumar, Jagdev Singh, Reyaz Ahmad Shiekh, G.A. Reshi, Abdul Hamid Dar and various other leaders also addressed the convention.
People are facing economic crises and the Govt has decided to impose property tax in J&K, which is beyond the expectations, not acceptable to people, instead of taking measure to address the economic crisis, Central Govt is deliberately putting burden on the people, which is inhuman and unfortunate, Mir said.
Mir said the unprecedented price hike on petrol, diesel and other essentials commodities have pushed people to wall, who are feeling disturbed. One fails to understand as to why Central Govt is unleashing tax terror rather than addressing the economic slowdown and genuine issues of common people.
Congress Party feels highly concerned, urging the Govt to roll back the price hike immediately rather than imposing new different kind of taxes. JKPCC president said people are disappointed with the current situation, there is a need to raise the voice against the anti-people policies of the Govt and the Congress Party is the only available platform, which will continue fight for people’s rights, so people must come forward and join hand with the Congress inorder to fight against the anti-people people policies of the present tax regime at centre, which is looting people from all the side without caring for their livelihood.
On this occasion many prominent personalities of Baramulla district included Tariq Ahmad Khan, Dr GM Bhat and others joined Congress and expressed full faith in the pro- people policies of the Party.
