JAMMU, Mar 9: Reiterating resolve of his party to give voice to the masses of Jammu and Kashmir, former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla today asserted that his party has emerged as credible voice of the people.
Addressing public meeting at Sanjay Nagar in Gandhi Nagar constituency today, Bhalla said that it was result of the conviction and commitment of the party leadership that Congress has credibility of the people of all the three regions of the State. Bhalla said that previous Govt failed to fulfil wishes and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Our aim is not to attain the power by deceiving the people”, he said and reiterated that one and only agenda of Congress is to establish lasting peace and to restore dignity and honour of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He said Congress is committed to establish peace and tranquillity in State and to strengthen regional and sub-regional integration. He sought support of the people to further pursue the pro-peace agenda of the Congress.
Reiterating his party’s resolve to remove regional disparities, he said Congress Government had set an example of equitable and balanced development in Jammu and Kashmir. “Credit goes to our regime that first time after 1947, all regions were treated equally in developmental and other activities”, he maintained and added that it was after 2002 successfully efforts were made to empower all regions to remove the sense of inequality and discrimination. “Jammu and Ladakh regions were made involved in the decision making process” he said.
Bhalla said BJP-PDP tried to raise issues which had no relevance to the problems of Jammu and Kashmir but it has miserably failed on the ground to convince the people by its lies and concocted stories. He said that BJP had tried to mislead the people by its false propaganda against the Congress as it has nothing to show by way of performance to win over the electorate. He said the people know what their real issues are and they cannot be deceived anymore by the murky politics which the BJP-PDP leadership has been playing in State. He said since the BJP had nothing to show as its performance report to the people at the end of its tenure it had resorted to lies to divert the attention of people from its failures.
