JAMMU, Sept 8: JKPCC working president Raman Bhalla strongly criticized the BJP Government at the Centre, accusing it of depriving women of empowerment during its 10 years in power.
Addressing a public meeting at Shiv Nagar Jogi Mohalla in RS Pura (Jammu), Bhalla expressed concern over the plight of women under the current administration, stating that the crime rate against women has increased, making them vulnerable and underserved.
Bhalla highlighted the hardships faced by widows and elderly women, who are not receiving their pensions, and demanded that the pension amount be raised to Rs 5000 per month amidst rising inflation. He also criticized the BJP Government for its failure to establish a Border Battalion for women in the border areas, depriving many women of employment opportunities.
“Our history has shown women playing vital roles in society, yet under BJP’s rule, women are being pushed back,” Bhalla said, calling for change. He urged women to actively participate in the upcoming Assembly polls and emphasized Congress’ role as a guarantor of welfare for the masses. Bhalla further accused the Government of corruption and nepotism, stating that Government schemes are not reaching deserving women due to these issues.
Reaffirming Congress’ commitment to women’s empowerment, Bhalla said the party has always stood for the upliftment of weaker sections and the protection of women’s rights. He urged the women of Jammu and Kashmir to support the Alliance in the upcoming elections, calling for a Government that is both people- and women-centric.
Prominent figures accompanying Bhalla included JKPCC general secretary Satish Sharma, block president Sanjeev Katal, Puran Chand, Om Parkash, Sunny Kumar, Sunil Kumar, Surinder Kumar, Narinder Kour, Balbinder Kour, Vero Devi, Gopal Kumar and others, who echoed their concerns and reinforced the Party’s dedication to addressing the needs of women and marginalized groups in J&K.
