BARAMULLA, June 15: Vice president of PCC and former Minister Abdul Gani Vakil today reiterated that Congress party will contest coming Assembly elections on its own as pre-poll alliance with NC proved disastrous for both the parties.
He said if pre-poll alliance would have not been forged between these two parties in Lok Sabah elections, the result would have been different because there was no wave or mood of people to support or vote in favour of PDP but there was no strong other alternative where the people would have expressed their anger against mis-governance and corruption.
Mr. Vakil was addressing party workers convention at Doabgah in district Baramulla. He said Congress is capable of facing electorate on its own performance, friendly policies for every section of society and historical developmental spree started by Ghulam Nabi Azad during his regime will be a backbone for it. He said people are interested in one party rule in order to avoid uncertainty.
He said that everyone is now fed up of sentimental slogans and are purely interested in the development and a corruption free society. He said Congress will work hard ensure that the Congress Party can form the next Government on its own so that menace of corruption is uprooted and the system could be set right. He said that Congress never endorsed double standards or hollow sloganeering for voting consideration but believe in tangible actions for the betterment and uplift of poor, downtrodden, needy people and this vision of Congress party is reflected in NREGA, Right to Free & Compulsory Education, opening of new Anganwari centres, launching of various financial assistance schemes in the State.
