UDHAMPUR, June 20: Senior Congress leader of the district unit Ashwani Khajuria and Councilor MC Udhampur , Priti Khajuria have demanded inquiry into the roads and bridge works conducted in Udhampur district during last five years.
Addressing a press conference here today, they alleged that many R&B roads are lying incomplete in the district despite the fact that funds sanctioned by the Government stand exhausted. In some cases the roads exist only on papers and the funds were withdrawn by the people involved in the nexus.
Citing example, they alleged that a road from Jakheni to Sharda Mata Temple with the cost of Rs 3.50 crore was sanctioned during 2015-16. The funds have been shown fully utilized but the road is incomplete with little earth work.
Similarly, a bridge with the cost of Rs 4 core on Himbra Nallah on Krimochi-Mansar Road was constructed by the R&B agency. It is lying incomplete with no approach roads on the either side. They said these are the just two examples. There is urgent need to conduct detailed inquiry into roads and bridge works in the district. They sought intervention of Lt Governor and Chief Secretary into the matter.
