SRINAGAR, Oct 13: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) discussed upcoming presidential elections and party activities here today.
In an extraordinary meeting of PCC delegates held at Srinagar Party office here today, the senior party members threadbare discussed organizational affairs and activities in all the districts of Kashmir province.
The meeting also held discussion on upcoming presidential elections in Jammu and Kashmir and advised the delegates to participate in the elections and caste their vote in a transparent manner.
The JKPCC president Vikar Rasool Wani presided over the meeting of PCC delegates and received feedback about the party activities in their respective districts. Wani urged them to get united and feel resolute in their endeavour to strengthen the Congress Party at grass root level, for the fact, Congress represent urges and aspirations of the people, it will continue to fight for their genuine rights, at every appropriate forum.
Wani expressed confidence over the enthusiasm found in the delegates with regard to upcoming presidential elections and said Congress is the only party which believes in internal democracy, so the elections are being held shortly the delegates across the country would choose their new party president.
On this occasion, JKPCC chief castigated Centre and JK Govt for failing to come upto the expectations of the people even after making tall claims on the floor of the house. The promises with regard to employment generation, development, protection of the people’s rights have fallen flat whilst people are feeling insecure given the wrong and anti-people policies of the BJP Govt, he said.
Congress party and people of J&K will fight against vendetta and divisive politics of BJP, won’t compromise on anti-people measures that are being taken by the Govt in order to hide their failure on employment, economic development and other fronts, Wani added.
Senior Congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Monga, Mohd Anwar Bhat, Surinder Singh Chani, DCC presidents and prominent leaders also addressed the meeting.
