Cong expels distt chief, others

SRINAGAR, Sept 18: Congress today expelled Srinagar district president and others from the basic membership of the party for contesting Assembly elections as Independent candidates against alliance candidates of National Conference.

In a statement, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) spokesperson said that after failing to file response to a show cause notice issued upon Srinagar district president and others, party has expelled its Srinagar district president Imtiyaz Ahmad Khan, Manzoor Ahmad Bhat and PCC secretary Asif Ahmad Beigh from the basic membership of the party, with immediate effect.
“They had filed their nomination papers against the spirit of alliance. The breach of alliance unity shall not be tolerated,” the spokesperson added.
