Party sources said that an emergency meeting of the party functionaries was held in Congress office Srinagar today in this connection, in which the members passed a resolution addressed to the JKPCC president, Tariq Hameed Karra to take action against the senior party leaders, former MLC and senior vice president of the party Ghulam Nabi Monga and former JKPCC vice president, Mohd Anwar Bhat.
Sources further said that District Congress Committee, Srinagar in a meeting of its leaders and other functionaries, presided over by DCC president, Irfan Naqib today launched attack on senior leaders- Ghulam Nabi Monga and Mohd Anwar Bhat for indulging in `anti-party activities’ and also blamed them for encouraging others who are still not even basic members of the party to indulge in indiscipline, aiming to damage the party interests.
“Ghulam Nabi Monga and Anwar Bhat are the product of conflict. They could not even win Panchayat or Ward elections. They must know where they stand. They both are exploiting and using the people who are not even basic members of the Party for such anti-party activities,” the meeting said.
The meeting termed Monga and Anwar Bhat as the members who always believe in controversies and worked against the party and the ‘chair’ to benefit opponents and serve their self-interests whilst both are nowhere on the ground. Actually, they are worried about their existence, which is apparently going to diminish, given their unacceptability and utter failure to contribute towards Congress Party, the meeting said.
“Someone must tell them, had they ever been able to win any Panchayat or Ward elections despite getting enormous support from the Congress Party, which has given them tickets and other facilities to contest Assembly elections, many times, but they could not even get 400 votes,” the members observed.
“Whenever the party high command appointed J&K Unit head, he (Monga) always opposed the decision and after sometime start creating indiscipline, besides inciting others to do the same, he is in habit of developing stories against the Party and the leadership aiming to divide the party and promote factionalism, but he knows, he always failed and will continue to fail in his designs,” the meeting added.
“It was surprising that Monga has assembled those Congress workers, who are not even active members of the Party, neither they have enrolled them as members nor they will be accepted. Monga and Bhat must look at their failed political career and go for self-introspection despite contesting scores of elections and enjoying important party position, they could not even secure their security deposits in the elections,” the meeting noted with concern.
“Monga and Anwar Bhat have always worked to destabilize the Party for self-interest, which is not acceptable,” the meeting said and added that they (Monga & Bhat) feel that their survival is due to the conflict, and so they always promote factionalism to secure themselves, which will not be tolerated any more.
The meeting resolved and forwarded a communication to the JKPCC chief, Tariq Hameed Karra to initiate strict disciplinary action against Ghulam Nabi Monga and Mohd Anwar Bhat to weed out the ‘deadwood’ from the Party.
