Cong launches ‘Panchayat Ki Aur’ prog

SRINAGAR, Apr 5: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) on Monday launched IInd phase of 45 days’ mission under the banner of “Congress Panchayat Ki Aur”.
The Party also slammed the Govt for failing to implement recommendations of back to village programmes organized earlier in different villages, saying that the prevailing situation is quite contrary to Govt claim, besides all its promises have fallen flat.
In a meeting of senior functionaries, District presidents, Ex- Legislators, MC Chairman, DDC Members, Corporators, Block presidents held at Srinagar party office , the JKPCC president GA Mir declared that Congress Party was launching  2nd phase of 45 days mission from Monday under the banner of “Congress Panchayat Ki Aur” in which the party will launch protest against the failed Back to Village Programmes, undermining  authority of PRIs, besides the unprecedented price hike, rising unemployment and many other issues confronting J&K people, who have suffered tremendous economic losses due to the ugliest situation especially wrong policies adopted by the Govt.
The party will strive hard to restore the authority of the Panchayat Raj Institutions which stands guarantee to development of people from grass root level, Mir said.
Pertinently, the party has recently completed the Ist phase of 45 days protests against unprecedented price hike and was going to launch another 45 days programme to seek strengthening of PRIs and other democratic institutions, besides seeking redressal of people’s grievances.
Addressing the meeting, Mir lashed out at Govt for failing to implement back to village recommendations held earlier in different districts in J&K, ironically the decisions taken in these flagship programme  were not implemented on ground, Mir added and questioned the relevance of  these (back to village programmes), which has even failed to implement even a single decision taken despite people’s  impressive participation in these programmes
“I have a strong feeling that Back to Village Programme were organized to keep people engaged aiming to divert their attention from the real issues , while there was no development at village or local level to be seen, so far, even common people have understanding they have been cheated again under the garb of these programs,” Mir said.
Mir said  the claim made by the Govt with regard to  development of J&K was contrary to the ground situation. Cong will expose the anti- J&K policies of the Govt during the  45 days “Panchayat Ki Aur Programme”.
Senior leaders Abdul Rashid Dar, Mohd Amin Bhat, Gulzar Ahmad Wani, Mohd Muzaffar Parray, Bashir Ahmad Magrey, Surinder Singh Channi, Shameema Iqbal and otjers were also present.
