KISHTWAR, Oct 31: Sirwal Jahanzaib, spokesperson Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) along with other Congress leaders visited Chag village at Gandhari in Paddar area of Kishtwar to take stock of the issues and problems of the fire victims.
It is pertinent to mention here that about 22 houses were razed to ground in a devastating fire causing extensive loss of properties and livestock in recent inferno. The Congress team led by Jahanzaib reached the village after trekking a long distance on foot in the tough mountainous terrain devoid of any road connectivity. The team interacted with the fire victims and expressed their sympathies with them for having been rendered homeless in this winter season besides having suffered huge loss of property and livestock. The fire victims narrated their tale of woes to the Congress leaders who gave them assurance that they would take up the matter with the concerned authorities.
In a statement Jahanzaib said that he was shocked to see the pathetic condition of fire victims in the village. He said that relief has not been provided to any of the fire affected families despite three days having lapsed after the incident. He said that not even the tents were provided to them in the ongoing cold winter nights which indicates serious lapse on the part of UT Administration. He said that in absence of the temporary tented or other accommodation and ration the very survival of these families is at stake.
Urging the Administration to stop playing truant with the fire victims in distress, Sirwal appealed to the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to issue instructions to the concerned District Administration to immediately initiate adequate measures for proper rehabilitation of these fire affected families as the winter season has already set in and harsh winter days and nights are approaching fast. He was accompanied by Muneeb Ashraf, Mashkoor Kamal, Momin Ahmad and others.
