SAMBA, July 6: In connection with the 8th death anniversary of Kargil martyr Gurdeep Singh Soni of 8th Sikh Regiment, a function was organised at village Plouta in Ramgarh area today.

PCC senior vice president and former minister Sham Lal Sharma was the chief guest while PCC vice president and former Minister Raman Bhalla, general secretary Manjeet Singh (Ex-MoS) were the guests of honour. Parents of martyr, Sarpanches, Pan-ches and large number of people of the area were also present at the function to pay floral tributes to the martyr Gurdeep Singh Soni.
The speakers described martyr Gurdeep Singh, a hero of their area and strongly criticized the Pakistan for aiding the militancy in the State.
The Congress leaders, while paying rich tributes to martyr said that Gurdeep Singh faced the enemy without caring for his life. He sacrificed his life like a true soldier. Saluting the courage of the martyr Congress leaders said that the victory in Kargil was an achievement for which the nation is proud of the soldiers and citizens must rededicate themselves to the cause of nation.
Taking a dig on BJP, Sham Lal said that since the NDA Govern-ment came into power, there has been tremendous increase in the infiltration, unp-rovoked Pak firing and over all tension on the border both at IB and LoC. He said that the casualties of Indian soldiers has increased many folds due to wrong policies of the Government both at the Centre and State. He further said that the attitude of the BJP- PDP and NDA Government towards border people, living in a tense situation on the border as the intermittent has made them homeless.
On the issue of GST, Sharma said that BJP though had surrendered before the PDP but it has now completely succumbed by supporting to bring the GST in the assembly for discussion and it’s passage. He said that the BJP Govt has set a new tend regarding implementation of Central laws in the State. He said that till now Central Government needed only concurrence of State Cabinet to extend Central laws to the state. He further said that more than 46 amendments have been extended with the concurrence of state cabinet since 1953.
