Cong Marches To LG Residence, Seeks Probe Into Ex Guv’s Revelations On Pulwama attack

JAMMU, Apr 18: Marching towards Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor’s official residence, the Jammu District Congress members here on Tuesday under the ‘Jai Bharat Satyagraha’ banner staged protest after the claims regarding the Pulwama attack by former Governor Satyapal Malik.
Congress protested against the central government under the chairmanship of PCC President Vikar Rasool Vani, Manoj Yadav Secretary AICC, PCC Working President Raman Bhalla, Former Ministers Mula Ram and Yogesh Sawhney and other leaders.
The protesters marched from Shaheedi Chowk to the LG house. Heavy deployment of police was made while the roads were purposely barricaded and blocked to stop them from marching.
Holding placards, the protesters raised slogans against the Centre demanding restoration of statehood for J&K, setting up of an inquiry in the Pulwama Attack in lieu of Satyapal Malik’s comments.
JKPCC President Vikar Rasool Wani speaking to the media demanded a response from the Center on the sensational comments given by Former Governor Satyapal Malik concerning the Pulwama Attack.
Terming it ‘deeply disturbing’, the PCC President said, “the lives of the martyrs lost in the incident should not be disrespected and there needs to be an immediate inquiry on the incident to judge the accuracy of the comments made by the Former Governor.”
“Such actions cannot be swept under the rug by the BJP leadership by simply ignoring the revelations made; people need urgent answers as it pertains to the security issue and the honor of our martyred jawans,” he said.
These are serious allegations as Malik has been the Governor of four states, and have first hand experience of the situation in J&K at that time, said the Congress leader adding, “PM Modi asked him to maintain silence on the Pulwama attack and as per his comments, the Home Ministry rejected a proposal to fly down the jawans instead of having them travel by road. This surely cannot be ignored by the Government.”
Working President Raman Bhalla condemned the Union Government, calling it “corrupt, and ignorant”. “We urge that a high level probe is set up into the Pulwama attack,” Bhalla stated.
Senior Congress leader Manoj Yadav, Secretary AICC said that it must be investigated if intelligence inputs had been ignored by the Modi Government prior to the Pulwama incident.
Former Minister Yogesh Sawhney stated that it is shocking that such a huge statement from Former Governor has drawn no response from the government.
“There is a serious need for answers now and the Modi Government cannot find their way out of this with white lies and manipulation of people’s sentiments,” Sawhney said.
