SRINAGAR, Apr 19: A joint delegation of Congress and National Conference leaders led by Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president GA Mir met the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi today and apprised him of the overall situation prevailed in the Valley.
The delegation gave a detailed presentation to President about overall socio political scenario prevailing in the State especially in Kashmir valley and apprised him of the hardships being faced by the people due to the failures of the present Govt on all fronts.
The delegation expressed serious concern over the situation that prevailed in the Valley and said that it was the duty of the State Govt to create a conducive atmosphere and appropriate security environment, but it utterly failed as a result the situation continues to deteriorate thereby causing loss of precious lives.
The delegation apart from other things briefed the President of the brutalities inflicted on students in Colleges and expressed serious concern over use of force on students in various parts in the Valley, the impact of which, has severely affected the overall education system.
The delegation urged the President to prevail upon Centre Govt to hold talks with all stakeholders in the State in order to put an end to the crisis in the Valley and emphasized that Centre should be asked to reach out to the people especially youth in the Valley in order to instill the confidence among the people.
Earlier, the delegation called on Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi in Delhi and apprised him about the situation obtaining in Kashmir. The delegation, threadbare discussed the current political crisis with Rahul Gandhi and also urged upon him to prevail upon Centre Govt to initiate talks with all the stakeholders in the State to resolve the crisis.
