JAMMU, Dec 12: Making a scathing attack on the Congress leaders for demanding the six months account of Narendra Modi Government at the Centre and not repenting over the dismal performance of the Party which ruled the country about 60 years, BJP senior leader and Union Human Resource & Development (HRD) Minister, Simriti Irani today said that the Congress never considered power as a tool for serving people but a weapon of arrogance.
Addressing election rallies at Gandhi Nagar, Marh, Kishenpur in Nagrota and Billawar constituencies of Jammu and Kathua district today to seek vote for the Party, she said they (Congress leaders) are demanding six months account from Narendra Modi while they themselves have failed to give the account of last 60 years when they ruled at the Centre and in the States.
She, while lambasting the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah whose Party is coalition partner with Congress in the State said that some people have made power as a means of arrogance and not service to people. The J&K people suffered from this malady during last six years of NC-Congress rule as the Government and Chief Minister never considered power as a means to serve the poor masses of the State, she added.
She, while quoting example of Mr Modi, said during his first day in Parliament he bowed before the temple of democracy and made a public announcement that he is not the ruler but prime servant (Pradan Sevak).
In comparison to this, the rulers in J&K closed the doors of democracy for the people of the State. They took their vote but betrayed them later, she added.
Simriti Irani said that the people in the State are fed up with arrogant leaders and they consider NC –Congress Government has brought misfortune for them. But this problem has an everlasting solution and that too lies in the hands of masses, she added.
She said if people want to change their fate and get rid of this Government which is a liability they should press the button of Lotus during polling day to give the State a strong and public friendly Government.
Without naming the Congress leader she said “ I came to know that one of the Congress leaders was asking his colleagues what was this “Swacch Bharat Abiyan’’ started by Narendra Modi.
“I want to tell him this is a cleanliness drive to clean lanes, roads footpaths and other public places, But how can the Congress Ministers understand it as they know only about cleaning the nation’s coffers and not roads’’, she added.
The HRD Minster said that people in J&K too want a strong Government like the one installed at the Centre. They want a Government which performs better and fulfills their aspirations. While highlighting the performance of Modi led Government at the Centre, she said he wants to fulfill the dreams of every Indian. The PM struggled a lot during his life time but never compromised on his principles, she added.
The meetings were also addressed by Party candidates Kavinder Gupta in Gandhi Nagar, Choudhary Sukhnandan in Marh Nand Kishore Sharma in Kishenpur, Nagrota and Dr Nirmal Singh in Billawar Assembly segment.
