Excelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, Oct 20: A meeting of senior NCP leaders was held under the chairmanship of former Minister Thakur Randhir Singh NCP chief J&K State to discuss current political situation here.
Mr Singh while addressing the party leaders and media-men once again condemned the statement of Dr Farooq Abdullah former Chief Minister who has said that Pakistan is more strong in the field of Defence than India, inspite of the continuous efforts by his father Shiekh Abdullah, and his son Omar Abdullah to degrade Dogras in all fields.
Singh said Jammu and Himachal are the ‘Vir Bhumies’ of Dogra Jawans and Generals like Gen Zorawar Singh , General Hoshiara Singh and General Tehal Singh, great grandfather of Thakur Randhir Singh who fought gainst Britishers and gave his life in famous Battle of Budki near Lahore.
General Zorawar Singh who carried three wars and reached Mansarovar and extended the India right up to China and was described by English author Young Husband as Little Napoleon. “How his troops crossed Indus near Kargil in the month of December is the greatest event in the world and sacrificed his life with thousands of Dogra soldiers near Mansarovar which is now captured by China”, narrated Mr Singh.
“It is sad that no historian has written the true history of Dogra generals and jawans who extended the territory of India upto Mansarovor”, he added.
Mr Singh demanded from the Central Government that J&K Rifles centre should be shifted from Gwalior to Jammu. The height of Dogra soldiers for recruitment should have been brought 5ft 4 inches as Dogras are fighters like Gorkhas and their average height be relaxed not only in Armed forces but also in Navy and Airforce, all paramilitary forces and J&K Police. Mr Singh have been taking this issue with successive Central and State Governments. All other office bearers also addressed.
