Cong not bothered about tackling inflation: Modi

BANDIKUI, Raj, Nov 19:
BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi today slammed Congress over the high inflation and alleged that its leaders have become very arrogant and were not bothered about tackling it.
“Look at the arrogance of the Congress leaders, despite the high inflation they are not bothered in tackling the situation,” Modi said while addressing a gathering at poll-bound state here today.
“Even the government does not say what it will do for providing relief from the inflation,” the BJP veteran added.
He further alleged that the Congress is making fun of the poor and all its promises to bring down the inflation before the Lok Sabha elections have fallen apart.
Not naming Rahul Gandhi, the Gujarat Chief Minister said the Congress Vice-President would never realise what poverty is because he has never seen it himself.
“Their (Congress’) Shehzada says that poverty is nothing but a state of mind. One who has not seen poverty cannot understand what poverty is,” he alleged.
The BJP leader also alleged that the Congress believes in “Ghartantra” instead of “Gantantra”, and it should go for the sake of development and growth of the country.
On the steep rise of onion prices, Modi mocked that on the day when Sachin Tendulkar was batting in his last Test at the Wankhede, people were talking whether the Master Blaster or onion would first hit a century.
The BJP veteran also alleged that though according to the Congress-led government a family which earns Rs 26 a day is not poor but the fact is that a common man cannot purchase even 300gms of onions by that earning.
Referring to Congress’ slogan “Ek roti khayenge Congress ko layenge”, Modi mocked that if the party takes 60 years to assure just one roti from half-bread then it will take another 200 years to provide another full-plate meal.
Targeting both the UPA and the Rajasthan governments over job opportunities to youths, the Gujarat Chief Minister said, “They promise jobs to youths but do nothing… Last time the Rajasthan government had promised jobs to 3 lakh candidates but only 10,000 got.”
He further claimed that his state has provided job opportunities for large number of Rajasthani people.
On Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s claim of Rajasthan being a role model in development but not Gujarat, Modi said that every state should learn good things from the other, which is doing good work, instead of showing arrogance.
“There should be no arrogance… If a state is doing good work, it should be learnt by other states too. But the problem is that they do not want to learn,” he said.
“We find ways for development but Congress always looks for ways for corruption,” he further alleged.
Drawing comparison between the development in Gujarat and Rajasthan, Modi said that though Rajasthan gets more solar radiation yet its his state which has the Asia’s big Solar Park.
“Such works require willpower,” Modi said urging people to vote BJP for the December 1 Assembly polls.
