Cong, NPP, NC, others protest against BJP on AIIMS issue

JAMMU, July 31: The activists of Congress, National Panthers Party, National Conference and other organizations held protests against the BJP leadership over the issue of AIIMS across the region.
The activists of Pradesh Congress led by former Ministers Raman Bhalla and Sham Lal took out strong protest rally at RS Pura. Carrying banners and placards in support of restoration of AIIMS to Jammu. The Congress activists were shouting slogans, “ Jammu Ka AIIMS Jammu…Ko Do,………BJP…..Hai…Hai…………… ”
Several senior leaders including Sham Lal, Raman Bhalla, Suman Bhagat, Ravinder Sharma, Manjeet Singh, Darshan Raina, Shah Mohd, Indu Pawar and others addressed the gathering and criticized BJP leadership from Jammu region for its total surrender before the Valley leadership and their dubious role on the issue of AIIMS. They said that all the BJP ministers and MLAs from Jammu should resign on the moral grounds. They termed it as betrayal with the people of Jammu region.
Another strong protest demonstration was held at Ploura near Jaggi Darbar in Raipur Domana constituency. The protest was also joined by the activists of frontal organizations of the party including Youth wing and NSUI. They raised slogans against BJP for the denial of full fledged AIIMS to Jammu region.
Former Minister Mula Ram was leading the protest. The Congress activists also burnt the effigy of BJP leaders and alleged that they have failed to honour the aspirations of the people of Jammu region. Mula Ram strongly condemned the role of BJP leaders and ministers and alleged that they stood exposed before the people. He alleged that BJP has compromised the interests of Jammu region.
National Conference staged a massive demonstration in support of the demand of All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Jammu. The party workers, led by District National Conference resident Jammu Urban, Dharamveer Singh Jamwal, took out a procession from the Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan, Residency Road here which passed through Raghunath Bazar, raising slogans in favour of a separate and full fledged AIIMS for Jammu while hailing the decision with regard to setting up of AIIMS in the Kashmir Valley.
The protest rally passed through various markets of the city, which were closed due to total Jammu Bandh, and decried the deception of BJP, which has betrayed the mandate given by the people.  The NC workers were joined by a large number of people who expressed solidarity with the cause.
Mr Jamwal lauded the response of the people who registered their protest by observing peaceful bandh. He expressed regrets over BJP’s brazen attempts of hoodwinking the public opinion by indulged in deceit. Later, the agitated workers torched the BJP effigy as a mark of anger of the people, who feel deprived of their legitimate right. The protesters included prominent functionaries of the NC Youth, Women Wings and ST/OBC Cell. They included Provincial president Wonen Wing Satwant Dogra, K D Singh, Ashok Singh, Ashok Dogra and Subash Bhagat- all ex-Corporators.
Ensuring the complete shutdown in Jammu today in the wake of “Jammu Bandh”,  a large number of Panthers Party activists assembled outside the Press Club Jammu and staged a massive protest demonstration at Dogra Chowk in front of the stranded commuters against the BJP’s act of duplicity, deceit and betrayal which was  led by Harshdev Singh, Chairman NPP and Yashpal Kundal State president Young Panthers.
The leaders exhorted the people to observe complete shutdown for the restoration of  full-fledged AIIMS in the Jammu region while the angry protestors burning with extreme anger and outrage triggered by the BJP’s perfidy shouted slogans of- “Jammu ka AIIMS..Jammu Ko Do”, “ Dhokhey Ki Rajniti….Nahin Chalegi Nahin Chalegi , “ BJP Jhootha Prachaar… Band Karo Band Karo” and “BJP….Hai Hai”.
Harshdev flayed BJP for playing foul with the people of Jammu region and said that the highly misleading statements issued by the BJP leaders from New Delhi had turned the people’s resignation into indignation and rage. He condemned the BJP’s chicanery and decried its assurance on the premier health edifice as a deceitful and wicked tactic to defeat the peaceful movement launched by the law abiding people of Jammu against the glaring bias meted out to them over the prestigious health project.
Another protest was held by the NPP activists at Ramban where nearly 200 party workers led by Ex-MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia courted arrest on the issue of AIIMS. The rally started from Dak Bungalow and then after passing through main market it was stopped by Police at National Highway. The agitating workers were then detained by police and later released.
AIIMS Coordination Committee Reasi, led by Vijay Sharma advocate also took out protest rally in Reasi town and raised slogans against BJP.
Similar protests were held by the activists of AIIMS CC Kathua and Samba besides JK Youth Sharnarthi Action Committee at R S Pura and Miran Sahib.
Jammu West Assembly Movement activists led by its leader Sunil Dimple also held strong protest at New Plot, Jammu today. They shouted slogans against BJP leaders and demanded full fledged AIIMS in Jammu.
