JAMMU, May 25: J&K Pradesh Congress Committee has raised the issue of disengagement of various categories of daily wagers, need based, contractual and consolidated and such other categories of workers and employees engaged from time to time since year 2010 and questioned the move just after the conclusion of elections to Lok Sabha.
Reacting to the Government order, JKPCC chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma said that all those who were working for the past several years on meager wages that too, payment of these wages on few intervals in a year only for limited periods and were promised regularization by the previous Governments and BJP leaders and an order for their regularization was also issued by the Governor rule in the previous term, are being disengaged today.
The BJP leaders fully exploited the sentiments of these categories of employees and workers for vote bank politics but now they face disengagement. He said it took several years for the administration to awaken to disengage them.
Sharma expressed the fear and concern that under the garb of this order, thousands of workers engaged on need based and casual categories by the respective competent field authorities would be disengaged without assigning any reason to any individual workers. He asked the Governor’s administration to ensure that no individual duly engaged by the competent authority and working for years, is disengaged by a shooting order.
He further said that around 61000 workers in different department were identified to be eligible for regularization till 2014 but it was delayed time and again.
However, he said that ban on such appointments and engagements except through recruitment process is alright apart from verifying each individual case for any illegality.
