SRINAGAR/ JAMMU, May 27: Congress paid glowing tributes to former Prime Minister on his death anniversary and recalled his selfless services to the nation in various functions organised across the State today.
Terming Pt Nehru an apostle of peace and a staunch believer of non-violence, the Party said that Pr Nehru fought against the forces factors vitiating multicultural atmosphere of unity and togetherness. The selfless services rendered by Pt Nehru shall always lead the nation to the path of development and prosperity.
Paying rich tributes to the great statesman and first Prime Minister of India on his death anniversary at Srinagar, PCC chief, GA Mir described Pt Nehru as an architect of modern India, whose leadership qualities brought the nation at par with fast developing countries of the world and the nation got the recognition of world’s largest democracy and prospering country.
In yet another function held at held at PCC headquarter Jammu today, the senior Congress leaders paid rich tributes the first Prime Minister of the county and recalled his great contribution in the freedom struggle of the county to shape up the future policies of the modern India on all fronts.
The function was presided over by senior vice president PCC, Sham Lal Sharma and attended by senior leaders. Prominent among them included Raman Bhalla, Ravinder Sharma, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma, Manmohan Singh, Anil Chopra, Indu Pawar, Shiv Dev Singh, Kuldeep Raj Verma, Shashi Sharma, Shamsher Singh Chib, Krishan Lal Gupta, Sanjeev Sharma, Masood Choudhary, Neeraj Gupta, B B Gupta, Sukhdev Choudhary, Madan Lal Malagar, Chanchal Popli and JL Koul.
While paying tributes, PCC leaders described Pt Nehru as a great visionary leader who laid sound policies for the future of great nation. The policies which were framed by Pt. Nehru’s stewardship are the guiding principles for this country on all important fields. They said Nehru laid the sound foundation of independent India as a first Prime Minister.
To commemorate the death anniversary of Pt Nehru DCC Kathua organised a function at district headquarters. DCC president and former MLC, Subash Chander Gupta presided over the function whereas, hundreds of party activists paid floral tributes to Pandit Nehru.
Mr Gupta while speaking on the occasion said that his life was full of devotion, dedication and truthfulness for the nation. It was Nehru, who designed the modern India and laid the strong foundation stone for its future.
Prominent among those who paid tributes include ex- president MC Kathua Naresh Sharma, Rattan Chand Karotra, Aradhana Andotra, Nirdosh Sharma and Kulbir Singh Pathania.
