SRINAGAR/JAMMU, Oct 31: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) on Thursday paid floral tribute to former Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi on her 40th Martyrdom Day and highlighted her supreme sacrifices for the Nation.
Congress leaders and workers in an impressive function held at Srinagar Congress office under the chairmanship of J&K Pradesh Congress Committee president Tariq Hameed Karra remembered former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her Martyrdom Day in which senior party leaders and hundreds of workers including frontal organizations participated and highlighted the supreme sacrifices and services of Indira Gandhi.
While paying floral tribute to Bharat Ratna Indira Gandhi, Karra recollected her supreme sacrifices and great contributions to the inclusive development of India. He highlighted her selfless services and her struggle to bring the Nation at par with fast developing countries in the world. The iron lady was known for her valour and decisions, especially those she had taken to safeguard the Nation from external and internal threats and other challenges, he said.
Indira Gandhi made supreme sacrifices for the Nation and people and never compromised on the sovereignty and integrity of India. She was a symbol of sacrifices and was credited for making India a powerful Nation, Karra added and said the Martyred Prime Minister took the prestige of the Nation to the heights in every respect and worked tirelessly for empowerment of every section of the people living in the country.
Senior party leaders Haji Abdul Rashid Dar (ex.MLA), Surinder Singh Channi, Mahila Cong president Shameema Raina, Nissar Mundoo, DCC presidents Irfan Naqib, Mir Iqbal, Umer Jaan, Sheikh Aijaz, Zaffar Farooq Salati, Abdul Rashid Lone, Er.Muzaffar Dar and others spoke on the occasion.
Similar function was held at Party office in Jammu where senior leaders including working president, Raman Bhalla, senior vice presidents Mula Ram and Ravinder Sharma; Yogesh Sawhney, Indu Pawar, Ved Mahajan, and others paid floral tribute to Indira Gandhi and recalled her services for the party and the nation.
Congress workers gathered today in the Jammu North Assembly segment to observe the death anniversary of the late Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi, paying homage to her enduring legacy and remarkable contributions to the nation.
Led by Hari Singh Chib, vice president, JKPCC, the party members and supporters reaffirmed their commitment to the ideals and values championed by Late Gandhi. The event witnessed participation from key Congress workers of the Jammu North Assembly Segment, including Om Parkash, SH. Dubey (Ward [resident), Bal Krishan Sharma (President, Roopnagar Welfare Society), former Corporator Rajni Balla, Tarun Vaid, Kamal Singh, Ranjeet Singh, Romesh Kumar and others.
