UDHAMPUR, Feb 16: Congress activists led by senior leader, Sumeet Magotra held protest demonstration against the price hike of LPG, petrol and diesel as announced by BJP Govt at the Centre.
Congress workers in the shape of a rally from Barrian, reached Slathia Chowk after passing through the office of Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur. They were raising slogans against Union Government and BJP. They blocked Dhar Road at Slathia Chowk for more than one hour. Massive traffic jam was created there for some time.
While addressing a large gathering, Magotra said that Modi Government has totally failed to control the prices of fuel/ LPG cylinders. Heavy taxes are being imposed on the public despite the fact that back bone of the people has been broken due to lock downs amidst Corona pandemic.
Without caring for the miseries and sufferings of the people, Prime Minister Narender Modi is taking anti-people decisions. The new Property Tax imposed by the Government of India in J&K UT is the new example of `Nadirshahi Farman’ of BJP Govt.
Magotra further said that in 2014, BJP had claimed that if they will be voted to power then their Government will reduce the rates of petroleum products but in seven years even in second term Union Government, it is unable to control the hike in prices of petroleum products. He said that increased prices of LPG, petrol and diesel have unbalanced the kitchen budgets of common man.
He criticizing J&K UT Government and alleged that new property tax on every property holder is being imposed on the behest of BJP. Magotra warned the Government to stop the anti-people policies, otherwise, Congress will go for big agitation in coming days.
