JAMMU, Apr 9: Some Congress MLAs today protested in the Lower House over diversion of recently sanctioned AIIMS to Kashmir valley from Jammu and asked the Government to do justice with Jammu region.
Raising the issue as soon as Legislative Assembly proceedings started this morning, Congress Legislature Party leader, Nawang Rigjin Jora said, “despite getting 25 seats from Jammu region, the Bharatiya Janata Party has done injustice with the Jammu people by allowing transfer of AIIMS to Valley”.
“We are not against Kashmir valley but we want justice with Jammu also as earlier an impression was given that AIIMS has been sanctioned for Jammu”, he said asking BJP MLAs to stop acting as mute spectator in order to provide justice to the region from where they have won 25 seats.
Jora was joined by G M Saroori and Vikar Rasool in protest on the issue. “We brought two Central Universities to Jammu and five Medical Colleges and now it is your turn”, they said and asked the BJP MLAs to compel the Union Government for sanctioning another AIIMS to J&K.
“One more AIIMS should be sanctioned for Jammu and if this is not possible then Banihal is the best place for setting up of already sanctioned AIIMS in order to bring an end to the ongoing controversy”, Vikar Rasool said.
