Cong protests revival of ‘Varna’ system in India

SAMBA, Apr  4: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) today held protest  and burnt the effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to express resentment on the dilution of SC/ST Atrocity Act.
Leading the protesters, former minister and PCC general secretary Manjit Singh along with others  held a protest demonstration on Ramgarh-Vijaypur Road disrupting movement of traffic for some time.  The protesters also took out a strong protest march against the Government.
The protesters were shouting anti-Modi slogans while accusing the BJP Government of creating caste based division in society and revival of `Varna’  system in the country.
“BJP Government has failed to perform in last four years and now, they have adopted such policies which have put the nation on edge with divisive politics,” Manjit Singh alleged.
Manjit Singh  said that NDA Government led by BJP at the Centre and in Jammu and Kashmir, the saffron party has only created chaos in the society.
“They never had development as their agenda. The nation got freedom from British Rule after struggle and sacrifices of two hundred years is again at the verge collapse only because of poor Government’s policies which are largely anti-people,” he alleged.
He warned the Modi Government to revert back the decision of the Supreme Court and defend the rights of Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes in Supreme Court.
“The confrontation with poor people will land you (BJP) in trouble and people are ready to teach you a lesson in coming parliamentary elections of 2019,” Manjit Singh said.
Earlier, the protesters burnt the effigy of PM Modi and shouted slogans against the Modi  Government like ‘Narinder Modi-Dalit Virodhi.
Those who spoke on the occasion included,  Babu Ram Bhagat, Tirath  Ram Bhagat, Jagdev Thappa, Master Thoru Ram, Capt Joginder Lal, Col Swarn Singh, Babble Gupta, Surinder  Sharma, Manohar Lal, Romesh Bhagat, Jagdish Raj, Uttam Chand, Ex- Sarpanch Sham Lal Bhagat,  Prabh Dayal, Bharat Bushan and  Joginder Bhagat.
