*Public suffering due to anti-people policies: Uday

JAMMU, Dec 18: District Congress Committee Jammu- Rural activists led by Hari Singh Chib (president) and Uday Bhanu Chib, president Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Youth Congress Committee staged a mammoth protest rally against the Government for failure to control unabated hike in the prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas as also the prices of other daily use items.
The rally carried out under Jan Jagaran Abhiyan as per directions of Rahul Gandhi and Rajni Patil, Incharge general secretary and State leadership, which commenced from Ward No. 60 and concluded in Ward No. 66.
Addressing the rally JKPYCC President Udhay Bhanu Chib said today’s rally is part of the 15-day campaign against price rise under Jan Jagaran Abhiyan that commenced on November 14. He said that the people of our country are suffering because of the anti people policies of the Narendra Modi Government. Our campaign is aimed at highlighting their concerns prompting the Government to come into action, he said. Udhay said that unprecedented price hike and inflation has wrecked the back-bone of common man amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
President DCC Jammu Rural, Hari Singh Chib while addressing the rally said that the edible oil prices have doubled in the last one year; prices of seasonal vegetables have gone up by 40-50% in the last one month alone; the cost of subsidised LPG cylinder has gone up by 50 % to Rs 900-1,000 in the last one year besides petrol and diesel prices having crossed all limits in the last 18 months. He said that it is an irony that the BJP Government at the Centre is still unmoved and continues to be in deep slumber least bothering about the miseries being faced by the people across the nation. He said the people are going to teach the BJP a lesson in the coming elections.
Senior Youth Congress leader Satish Sharma in his address accused the Union Govt of having turned the democratic form of Government into dictatorship. He said while sky rocketing prices have already created unprecedented miseries for the common man, at the same time government was not even willing to let the house run normally.
Prominent among others who participated in the protest rally were included Kuldeep Verma, Satish Sharma and a large number of members of District Congress Committee and Block Committee Raipur-Domana.
