*Criticises HM for misleading on Statehood

JAMMU, Mar 30: Launching attack on the BJP and the Central Government led by Modi, the Congress Paty today questioned the Home Minister Amit Shah for the failure of his Government to control the rising terrorism in Jammu region and misleading people by refusing to give any time-frame for granting Statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing a joint press conference here today, senior JKPCC leaders Raman Bhalla, Ch Lal Singh, Ravinder Sharma, Ved Mahajan and others questioned the failure of Central Government in handling the security situation and the law and order position which has deteriorated to a large extent, especially in Jammu region post 2019, contrary to the tall claims of BJP Government.
“Kathua district was one of the most peaceful area in the region, but is now worst hit by militancy and people are fear struck in entire border belt and hilly region,” said former MP Ch Lal Singh rejecting the false and misleading claims of Modi Government.
He said the situation on terrorism front was much better prior to 2019, and for the last two decades when J&K was a full fledged state, but it has deteriorated in recent years, for which directly the Home Ministry is answerable. There is great sense of insecurity amongst people. BJP and the Centre should answer people for their utter failure when entire control is with the Centre under the UT. He alleged acute shortage of man power with police stations in the district. He demanded immediate recruitment of local youth in the police to strengthen security and intelligence network.
Raman Bhalla questioned BJP for the utter failure of the Centre in controlling security and law and order situation in Jammu region which has worsened to large extent under Union Territory than in previous years when Jammu region was almost peaceful. He said BJP and Centre Government make tall claims of normally but on ground they are total failure. The entire Jammu region is today disturbed due to faulty and weak policies of Central Government.
He said BJP has failed on all fronts during the past ten years especially in giving employment to large number of educated youth despite availability of thousands of vacancies, regularise the daily wagers, casual, need based, temporary, adhoc, contractual employees working in numerous departments for several years.
Chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma said that current security situation and law and order in Jammu region is the direct answer to false and misleading claims of BJP and Central Government, and demanded that Government work out more fool proof measures to strengthen security and intelligence network and to restore security confidence amongst people. He said Congress is fully behind the security forces to deal with the situation.
“Why not Centre taking all political parties and elected representatives and popular Government into confidence in controlling the situation in more effective ways?” he asked.
