JAMMU, June 9: Strongly condemning the killing of its leader and Sarpanch, Ajay Bharti in Anantnag, senior leaders of JKPCC today  questioned the failure of the Govt to ensure him adequate security being an elected representative and leader of minority community residing in one of the most vulnerable area in Kashmir.
After the cremation of the slain leader in the morning at Shakti Nagar Jammu, in which senior party leaders including PCC chief, GA Mir attended the same, an emergency meeting was convened at party office Jammu to pay condolences to  the slain leader in which strong resentment was shown over the dastardly act of killing of innocent citizen but questioned the Government for its failure to provide adequate protection to him and ensure his security in the most vulnerable area despite minority  community leader who participated in the political process against all odds. Two minutes silence was observed in the memory of the leader and to pray for peace to the departed soul.
The meeting was attended by former minister and vice president Raman Bhalla, former minister and general secretary PCC incharge District Congress president Jammu Urban, Yogesh Sawhney, chief spokesperson of the party, Ravinder Sharma, general secretary PCC -Manmohan Singh, PCC secretaries Neeraj Gupta, Sanjeev Sharma, Dr RK Khajuria and all JMC Councillors besides others.
The meeting expressed grave concern over the dastardly killing of the party leader belonging to the minority community who participated in the political process and won the election from the area falling in the assembly segment Dooru, earlier represented by PCC chief GA Mir. The slain leader Ajay Pandita (Bharti) was an active leader and close associate of PCC chief.
The party has impressed upon the Government to identify the culprits and give them the severe punishment for the dastardly act. The Government should fix responsibility for the failure to provide him security despite showing apprehension of threat to his life.
Raman Bhalla said that it should been otherwise known to the Govt and the security agencies that Bharti was more vulnerable to the designs of the terrorist and anti-national elements for the reason that he not only participated in the political process but won it. Secondly, he was from the minority Kashmiri Pandit community and also that he was associated with opposition Congress. Unfortunately, he was not provided security despite requests which is very serious thing and independent inquiry should be held to fix the responsibilities, Bhalla added.
