Cong seeks clarity from Govt, probe into Handwara killings

SRINAGAR, Apr 13:  Strongly condemning the Handwara casualties, Pradesh Congress Committee demanded time bound impartial probe into the incident and punishment to the guilty.
Seeking clarity from the State Govt over Handwara casualties, Congress leaders asked  where are the promises made by the present head of the Govt claiming to protect innocent people and ensure peaceful atmosphere in the State?
Accusing State Govt for failing to ensure peaceful atmosphere in the State, Congress leaders asked the Govt to accept the failure as Handwara incidents have raged the Valley again.
Expressing anguish Congress leaders described the firing on protesters as most unfortunate and said such type of incidents would continue to alienate the people and vitiate the peaceful atmosphere in the State.
Congress leaders demanded time bound impartial probe into this firing incident, so that the truth comes to fore and guilty punished.
Meanwhile, Congress delegation led by PCC chief GA Mir was not allowed to visit Handwara. The delegation was supposed to assess the situation and express solidarity with the bereaved families.
Senior Pradesh Congress leaders  MLC Gulam Nabi Monga, MLA Haji Abdul Rashid Dar,  former Minister Usman Majeed, District president Kupwara Haji Farooq Mir and other senior leaders strongly condemned the  Handwara firing incident. They said that killings of innocent persons, in any form, can’t be justified by anything.
Secretary J&K Pradesh Congress Committee Irfan Naqib  also condemned the Handwara firing incident. He expressed grief over the loss of precious life.
