JAMMU, Aug 20: Congress has sought the intervention of the visiting Parliamentary Committee on Home Affairs regarding implementation of the full relief and rehabilitation package for displaced people and refugees of 1947, 1965 and 1971 from PoJK, Chhamb and West Pakistan.
In a communication to the Chairman of the Committee who are currently on tour of Jammu and Kashmir, JKPCC Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma has sought the attention of the Committee towards the various pending issues of the DPs and refugees including full implementation of the 2014 package recommended by the then State Government to the centre and fully endorsed by the Parliamentary Committee on Home affairs which had enhanced the financial relief from 25 lakh to Rs 30 lakh per family.
He said that only Rs 5.5 lakh per family was sanctioned in the year 2015, which too has not been released and disbursed to large number of families.
Sharma also regretted that the Committee did not invite the refugee representatives to enquire about the implementation of the package endorsed and recommended by this Parliamentary Committee on Home Affairs.
I forwarded a request to the Divisional Administration for arranging a meeting of refugee representatives to apprise the Committee about the real picture but there were no instructions”, he informed.
It was necessary for the Committee to meet the representatives from different quarters to know the ground realities, he stated.
