JAMMU, May 31: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) has cautioned the people about rising threat of COVID – 19, especially in the wake of rising number of cases through out country including in Jammu and Kashmir, while the decision to unlock the lockdown in most areas in such a serious situation is a matter of surprise and cause of worry and people may have to face a tough time ahead both on COVID -19 and economic front.
The JKPCC chief spokesperson, Ravinder Sharma in a statement issued here, today said the decision to unlock most of the things and leave the further decisions in this regard to State Governments has presented a picture of confusion and lack of direction on the part of Central Government, as there has no way out and road map to deal with the peak situation on COVID-19.
Sharma said that when there were insignificant numbers of COVID – 19, the Modi Government ordered complete lockdown within three hours but surprisingly when the numbers have risen to alarmingly high, despite complete lockdown it has no strategy to deal with the emerging situation. He said that the number of cases have gone up to 1. 82 lacs in the country with daily figures crossing over 8000 cases and deaths 265 today, the lockdown is being opened, without any future strategy to deal with alarming situation.
He said it appears the Government has left the people to take care of themselves and face the toughest situation without any clear road map. There appears something seriously missing in the entire approach right from day one to deal with the grave threat to the lives of the people and now there is no way out devised to deal with the grim situation and more serious situation ahead.
In this situation the people will have to be extra cautious, careful and on toes to save themselves and their near and dear ones on the days ahead. The situation in J and K is also touching more serious levels with high level officers too getting infected and there are lot of short comings on the testing levels and facilities at quarantine centres. The people are worried a lot about the overall situation on the COVID front and are questioning the Government and the ruling party for ignoring the genuine concerns to improve the handling of the entire situation.
