Cong slams Govt for dis-empowering Panchayats

KULGAM, Apr 12: Congress Party today asked the Govt to explain to people as to what it has delivered after repeated assurances and promises with regard to inclusive development, employment, economic crisis, etc confronting J&K.
The party also slammed the Govt for disempowering the Panchayats, as a result, the developmental process at grassroots was badly hit, besides the unprecedented price hike on petrol, diesel, cooking gas and essentials added more problems to common people.
JKPCC president GA Mir while addressing gathering of Sarpanchs and Panchs as part of party’s 45 days “Panchayat Ki Aur Programme”  at Valentengo area of Kund, in Qazigund of Kulgam district said this programme was Party’s  endeavor to reach nook and corner of J&K to receive feedback, besides reviewing the outcome of `Back to Villages’ events, functioning of panchayat bodies and development at grass roots  level across J&K.
The Sarpanchs and Panchs present in the meeting briefed JKPCC president about their difficulties and  various developmental issues concerning their respective areas, regretting that they  were not able to exercise their powers citing different reasons, besides the govt apathy in implementing the decisions taken by the panchayat bodies, as a result, the development at grass roots level  suffered enormously.
JKPCC president termed the Govt attitude as indifferent and discriminatory towards the people, contrary to the claims  with regard to inclusive development of J&K made by the Govt from time to time, even after involving all stake holders, Govt departments and common people ,the B2Vs have not come upto the expectations of the people. He said Govt has failed on all fronts especially development and employment fronts.
Amin Bhat expressed deep concern over the rising unemployment, lack of development, price hike and said these wrong decision by the Govt have pushed the people to wall and slamming it (Govt) for failing to address the needs of the people.
He said there were thousands of daily wagers, casual and need basis  working in different department, who were waiting and agitating for their regularization since years, but the Govt was just making tall claims for their  appropriate adjustment.
DDC Member Riyaz Ahmad, Amanullah Mantoo, Zamir Ahmad Mir vice president MC Qazigund, Nasir Ahmad, Fatima- BDC Chairman and others were also present.
