Cong ticks off Dwivedi for remarks equating Modi with Indian-ness

NEW DELHI :  Outrightly rejecting senior Congress  leader Janardan Dwivedi’s remarks that Prime Minister Narendra  Modi’s win at the 2014 general elections was a triumph of  Indian-ness, the party today made it clear that it did not  subscribe such a suggestion and hinted at a disciplinary action  against Mr Dwivedi for the comment.
Addressing a press conference here, Congress Communication department head and general secretary Ajay Makan said, “The Congress rejects Mr Dwivedi’s views. What he said is totally opposite to the ideology and the thinking of the Congress.”    Mr Maken said the party is closely examining Mr Dwivedi’s reported statement and clarification for further action.     “The top leadership of the party will soon take a decision  on disciplinary proceedings against the party leader,” Mr Maken said.
In reply to a specific question whether a disciplinary action would be initiated against him, Mr Makan quipped, “You (media) will come to know it soon.”
Mr Dwivedi is also likely meet the press later in the day amid growing controversy.
