Cong to play role of constructive Oppn: Mir

SRINAGAR, May 11:  Pradesh Congress Committee president and former Minister Ghulam Ahmed Mir today said that Congress will play the role of constructive opposition  and it would strongly raise the issues of the public cause.
In a meeting of the Core Group of the Congress Party held at Srinagar today, Mir said that  Congress party is highly concerned  about the relief and rehabilitation of September 2014 devastating floods and will  fight for rehabilitation of affected people.
“We will oppose strongly pick and choose policy of  Govt in distribution of relief. The Government is answerable to people and Congress Party will certainly make it accountable. He said Congress will play the role of Constructive Opposition and will fight on every issue pertaining to people’s welfare and development.
While criticizing the Coalition Govt for its failure on all fronts, the PCC president said that instead of playing politics over and relief rehabilitation Govt must act and deliver and it must not shift their failure to previous regime. It should focus on their failure and try to solve the people’s problems. Efforts should be made to address the main issues of people, as they have promised to people before the formation of Govt in the State. Mir said his party will fight for people’s issues both in Legislative Assembly of the State and Parliament and at various other forums.
He asked the Core Group members to reach out to the people, and identify their problems for redressal.
Threadbare discussions were held with regard to overall socio economic development of the State. The meeting discussed relief and rehabilitation of flood affected people like business community, shopkeepers, SSI unit holders, common people who lost their houses, Dal dwellers,  hoteliers and  farmers . The meeting also discussed unemployment problem which is a big issue in the State. It said that this problem has increased with the coming of BJP-PDP regime.
Prominent among those present in the meeting included Peerzada Mohd Syed, Taj Mohi-U-Din,  Haji Abdul Rashid MLA,  vice president, Mohd Anwar Bhat  vice president,  Farooq Andrabi  spokesperson, Shoiab Nabi Lone, Hilal Shah, SS Channi, Nazir Ahmad Khan, Mohd Amin Bhat, Gulzar Ahmad Wani, Khemlata Wakhloo, Mohd Abdullah Nadaf, Gulam Nabi Mir Lasjan, Nazir Amad Bhat, Haji Ali Mohd Bhat, Shameema Iqbal, Amit Amla,  Irfan Naqeeb, Abid Kashmiri and Hamid Mir.
