JAMMU, Jan 3: President District Congress Committee (DCC) Jammu Urban, Vikram Malhotra said that party will organize protest in all the 75 Wards of Jammu to raise the demand for complete statehood for J&K.
These meetings will be followed by protest demonstrations in each ward. He urged upon the District cadre to expose the nefarious designs of the BJP, who is hell bent upon playing with the concern and issues of the youth of J&K. He said that Congress party strongly opposed to the idea of UT status to J&K.
Malhotra said DCC Jammu will hold awareness programme in each ward to apprise people of the deceit and falsehood being spread by the BJP regarding the issues of domicile protection in the jobs for the youth of J&K.
He blamed BJP for hoodwinking the people of J&K by issuing diversionary statements. While on one hand the Home Minister said that there is no proposal under consideration for providing any domicile protection for the J&K in jobs, the local State leadership is befooling the people with the promise of the same. A recent example was the advertisement of J&K High Court where 33 posts were advertised to be filled by people from pan India with no reservation for the people of J&K.
He further said that the statehood for J&K was an emotive issue for the people here and Congress will strive hard to raise this issue at the grass root level to galvanize the people and must not rest until the statehood is restored. Vikram urged upon the Union Government to restore internet connectivity in J&K.
Prominent among those attended the meeting included vice presidents DCC Jammu (Urban), Gourav Chopra, Ch Dwarka, Pritam Singh, Rajinder Singh Jamwal (all Corporators), Deepak Mehra, Meenakshi Arora, Surinder Dutt, JL Koul, Manmohan Sharma, Jyoti Vaid, Camres David Babloo, Pawan Dev Singh, Parshotam Mehra, Naresh Maini, Vijay Singh Chib, Sat Pal Sapolia, Shivani Sharma, Chander Shekhar, KC Gupta, Veena Sharma, Markes Gill, Rani Jamwal and others.
