Cong warns agitation against fresh registration of migrants

JAMMU, Mar 8: Congress has warned to launch agitation against the State Government for starting fresh registration of migrants from Valley and said this way the Government was itself encouraging the migration of people from Kashmir which is in total contradiction of its claims about rehabilitation of migrants in Valley with honour and dignity.
The Congress Migrant Cell which met here today under the leadership of Hira Lal Pandita its chairman urged the Government to clear its stand on the issue. The meeting said that by ordering fresh registration of migrants after eight years now the PDP-BJP Government should admit that the situation has worsened in Kashmir after it came to power.
Addressing the meeting Congress leader Ghulam Qadir said that the claims of Government regarding return of migrants are totally hollow as situation is day by day deteriorating in Valley and the separatists and militants still rule the roost.
He said the PM package employees who were posted in Valley are in a great desperation and are unwilling to serve there in view of fresh spurt of militant violence.
He said instead of curbing the militancy the Government has given premium on terrorism by appointing the kin of separatists to top posts while the common people continue to suffer.
He said the fresh registration is being done at the cost of those migrants who were forced to flee from Valley over 27 years back to take refuge outside Kashmir under a hatched conspiracy to deprive them of the PM’s job package and other facilities.
The meeting among others was addressed by senior vice chairman, M N Pandita, convener Shadi Lal, Bansi Lal etc.
