Cong will provide MSP, crop insurance to farmers: Bharat

JAMMU, Sept 19: National general secretary of Kissan Congress, Deepak Sharma and president of Jammu and Kashmir Kissan Congress, Bharat Priye today claimed that Congress will provide MSP and crop insurance to the farmers.
Addressing press conference at PCC headquarters, these Kissan leaders said that Congress has promised to provide Minimum Support Price to the farmers besides crop insurance to them. They said the Congress has also promised one lakh jobs to the educated youths of Jammu and Kashmir.
Earlier, hundreds of farmers were present in the party office to welcome Bharat Priye and welcomed their leader by garlanding him.
While talking to media-persons, Deepak Sharma said that today the farmers of the country are crying with tears of blood due to the wrong policies of the Government. Farmers’ loans are not being waived off, but the Modi Government has waived off Rs 16 lakh crore of loans of big industrial houses.
He claimed that Congress will provide Rs 36,000 annually to the woman head of the household, unemployment allowance to the youth and one lakh jobs.
Bharat Priye said that the farmers of Jammu and Kashmir are currently going through a period of extreme despair. The promises made by Congress in its manifesto to the farmers will be applicable in Jammu and Kashmir. With this, he will start a farmer helpline to know what problems they are facing. Landless, tenant farming and land owning farmer families will be given additional financial assistance of Rs 4,000 every year.
He claimed that Congress will arrange for 99 years lease to landless farmers cultivating state land. The minimum price for apple crop will be fixed at Rs 72 per kg; 100% crop insurance will be given for all crops against natural calamities. A fund of Rs 2500 crore will be created for all district-level irrigation projects to ensure 100% irrigation for the farmers of Jammu and Kashmir. Wholesale grain markets will be created in each block, he added.
