JAMMU, May 8: Congress workers today held protest march at Gurha-Bakshi Nagar here today against shortage of ration and kerosene oil in Jammu city and surrounding areas.
A large number of Congress workers assembled at Gurha Morh, today morning at around 11 am under the leadership of PCC general secretary Manmohan Singh. They were holding placards, banners and Congress flags in their hands and marched on road through Shaktinagar Bazaar amidst chanting slogans against BJP-PDP Government.
Speaking on the occasion Manmohan Singh made scathing attack on BJP-PDP Government for its utter failure to provide basic amenities to the people. He said that Govt is not supplying adequate ration to the people, especially Atta and Kerosene oil, which is being consumed by the common man and poor people of the State. There is hue and cry amongst the general public for shortage of ration but the Govt is watching the situation as mute spectator.
PCC general secretary urged upon the State Govt to take immediate steps to provide adequate quantity of ration and kerosene oil to the people besides the process of bifurcation of ration cards as well as addition of members in the old ration cards be taken up immediately. He said that at least 35 Kg ration should be provided to each family, as provided in other regions of the State.
Prominent among those who addressed the protestors includes Kanta Bhan PCC vice president, Manjit Singh general secretary, Vikram Malhotra, general secretary PCC, Anil Chopra- president DCC Jammu Urban, Neeraj Gupta- secretary, Sukhdev Choudhary, Ramakant Khajuria and Gurdarshan Singh.
