Congmen pay tributes to Nehru

JAMMU, May 27: Pradesh Congress Committee members and other activists of the party today paid their rich tributes to first Prime Minister of India Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru on his 50th death anniversary.
The main function in this connection was held at PCC headquarters Shahidi Chowk here. Former MLA and DCC Jammu Urban president Om Chopra presided over. Many senior leaders of PCC, DCC, Mahila wing and INTUC attended the programme.
The speakers paid rich tributes Late Nehru and recalled his contributions for the country during freedom struggle and post independence. They lauded the dynamic leadership and visionary thinking of their great leader under whose stewardship the country laid strong foundations in all spheres of life and progressed on all fronts.
They described Pt Nehru as architect of modern India, because of his leadership and direction to fundamental policies of this country, as first Prime Minister. He was a statesman of international repute and was instrumental, in the formation of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in the world leading to the creation of a new world order, when world was divided into two blocks. They said Pt Nehru followed the ideals of secularism and socialism in view of the pluralistic character of this nation. His philosophy is becoming more and more relevant with each passing day.
Prominent among those present included- Dharam Pal Sharma (Ex-MP), Th Hari Singh, Mula Ram, S Gurmukh Singh, Ravinder Sharma, G L Chalotra, Shiv Kumar Sharma, S R Sudhir, Kanta Bhan, Lalita Sharma and S S Shingari.
