JAMMU, Apr 26:  Congress leaders from Gujjar community have strongly condemned the   brutal attack on nomad family in Reasi on April 20 and charged the State Government with failure to protect the lives of innocent people.
Talking to media persons at the Congress headquarters, here today, JKPCC general secretaries Shahnawaz Choudhary and Choudhary Shah Mohd lambasted the State Government for its failure to protect innocent citizens and also raised a question mark on the Police officials, who allegedly did nothing to protect the nomads.
Further, they added, ten out of eleven accused have been released from the police custody on bail, which shows how much concerned the Government is about the safety of innocent people and supports right wing people who are hell bent to hurt communal brotherhood.
Urging people of different sections of society to maintain communal harmony among themselves, the Congress leaders said that the situation has become alarming after the Coalition Government, especially BJP, has come to power. “They have lone motive to divide society for their political interests. This type of politics will damage basic fabric of the society and has created mistrust among the people believing in different faiths,” they said and demanded that the alleged ‘cow vigilantes’ should be booked under PSA to set an example so that such indents are not repeated in future.
Meanwhile, reports from Mahore said that a bandh was observed in the town in protest against Reasi incident. The call for bandh was given by the Shopkeepers Association and other social organizations.
On the other hand, a torch light procession was taken out in Reasi town for a fair probe in nomad beating case and revocation of charges framed on the persons arrested in this connection.
