Congress disrupts Question Hour in LS over ‘anti-Dalit incidents’ in Punjab

NEW DELHI: The Opposition Congress again disrupted proceedings in the Lok Sabha today  protesting against the Modi government at the Centre and SAD-BJP government in Punjab for the alleged atrocities on Dalits. The party submitted a notice for adjournment for raising the issue of ”insult and atrocities against Dalits in Punjab” which was disallowed by Speaker Sumitra Mahajan.

Expressing dissatisfaction over the Chair’s ruling, Congress leader M Mallikarjun Kharge insisted that the issue was important and related to the dignity of Dalits, therefore the matter should be allowed to be raised immediately. However, the Speaker said she would allow them to speak after the Question Hour.

This did not satisfy the Opposition Members who stormed into the Well raising slogans against government at the Centre and in Punjab. This forced the Chair to take up the Question Hour business amid pandemonium. (AGENCIES)
