UDHAMPUR, Apr 4: Member AICC and former president Pradesh Youth Congress, Pranav Shagotra said that the historic declaration made by Congress president Rahul Gandhi on NYAY “Minimum Income Guarantee Yojana” to poor citizen, if Congress is voted to power, would bring revolution in the country for the poor.
He said that as per the scheme, poorest 20 percent of the families in the country would be guaranteed Rs 72000 a year and this amount will be deposited directly in the bank account of the women head of the family. “More than 5 crore families and around 20 percent households will be benefitted by this historic step. This announcement will be implemented with full commitment as we did earlier in the case of farm loan waiver in the States like Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh,” he said.
Flanked by president DCC Udhampur and ex-MLA Krishan Chander Bhagat; secretary PCC Narinder Sharma and secretary INTUC Sumit Magotra, Shagotra told media persons in a press conference at DCC Office Udhampur, that Congress fulfilled the promises made during earlier Assembly elections . He said that the difference between Modi’s BJP serves the interest of top businessmen of the country only but Congress on the other hand serves the interest of farmers, poor and downtrodden sections of the society.
He said this announcement will be implemented with full commitment like that of Right to Food Act, Right to Job (MGNREGA), Right to information(RTI), RTE etc, which are the major achievements of Congress led UPA Govt in the Centre. “Congress always framed the policies and programmes keeping in consideration the poor populace of the Country,” he said and added that NYAY is a Scheme which is brain child of top economists of the country and Congress is sanguine that poorest of the poor families are benefitted out of it. By this way, empowerment of womenfolk will also be ensured. Rahul Gandhi’s dream is to decrease the gap between the rich and poor in this country which has widened during Modi regime, he added.
